Chapter 01 — The Wall
Every shoe wall ends at size 13.
You already know this. The department store runs out of sizes two niches before your feet arrive. Smythe & Digby cuts every pair to your confirmed measurements — the full atelier in extended sizes, the Chelsea to US 18 with half sizes included — and where a style stops earlier, its size range shows at the size selection step, before your order is confirmed.
Build Your Pair in 3DThe Size Run
Most styles run to US 15 and beyond in half sizes — the Chelsea to 18. Each style’s range shows at the size selection step, before you order.
Half sizes across the run — through US 18 on the Chelsea, our deepest style. Largest sizes vary from style to style — each style’s size range appears at the size selection step, before your order is confirmed. Widths: D (standard) and EE. Our EE is the US 2E width. We do not offer wider. If you wear 4E, we are not your maker, and you will know that before you order anything.

Chapter 02 — The Last
A boot built around the foot, instead of a shelf size stretched to fit.
A size 15 last is not a size 10 last pulled longer. The forefoot splays, the arch changes, the proportions shift. Ours are built true from the first sketch, in our Spanish atelier, one pair at a time.
The Array
One last, every silhouette — oxford to monk, loafer to Chelsea.

Chapter 03 — The Width, Honestly
Our EE is the US 2E. We say so, and we stop there.
Most “wide” listings blur the width until the wrong foot orders. We name ours: 2E. We decline the rest. A boot that pinches is worse than no boot, and you are the one who pays for the ambiguity.
The 48-Hour Track
Staples run ahead of the queue; your size finishes them.

Chapter 04 — The Walk Out
Proportional at size 18, which does not happen off a rack.
The slim gusset and plain toe keep the line of the foot honest at every size. A 16 that reads tailored instead of industrial, under flannel, under denim, at the rehearsal dinner or the office.
The Design Studio
Design your pair in about ten minutes. Any style, your size, your leather.
The studio below opens on the full atelier array — every style the workshop can build, the Chelsea among them. Pick a style to see exactly what it can be made in; the size selection step shows each style’s length and width range before your order is confirmed. Then choose your leather, sole and finish, and confirm your size against our chart and video.
Before You Order
Questions, answered.
Do you really make dress shoes in size 17 and 18?
Yes — our deepest styles run to US 18, half sizes included, on true extended lasts. The Chelsea is the anchor: 14 through 18. Other styles vary; each style’s size range appears at the size selection step, before your order is confirmed. The wall at 13 does not apply here.
Is your EE the same as wide or extra wide?
Our EE is the US 2E width — what most US retailers call “wide.” It is not 3E or 4E. If you wear wider than 2E, do not order; the confirm-before-the-cut step exists to catch that before the leather is cut.
How fast can a big-size pair arrive?
Staple styles (the Chelsea Classic, cap-toe Oxford, penny loafer) run on the 48-hour production track after your size confirmation. Fully custom builds take the standard made-to-order route; the timeline is stated at checkout.
What if the size is wrong?
Each pair is cut to your confirmed measurements, so it cannot be exchanged or remade for someone else. Measure both feet with our chart and video, and size up if you fall between sizes.
